We use coaching as a compliment to our consulting services to help pastors and ministry leaders achieve and sustain high levels of leadership performance, and to better implement the strategies formulated planning process.

Coaching will help you…
… Get you unstuck, creating progress

… Achieve your goals, not just dream about them
… Avoid the insanity of doing the same old things yet expecting different results
… Operate on principle and stability, rather than trial and error

How it works

Coaching is a structured relationship between an individual and a coach who is trained to listen, observe and then engage their clients around an agenda that is personal and customized to suit their individual needs.

A coaching structure operates under the belief that the client is naturally creative and resourceful. A coach then uses powerful, provocative questions that draw upon the skills, resources and creativity that the client already possesses.

Additionally, coaching in a Christian context assumes the leadership activity of the Holy Spirit. We see our role as helping our clients discern the Holy Spirit’s insight and guidance for their ministry.

Q: What exactly does a coaching engagement look like?
A: While each coaching relationship is unique and customized, most coaching engagements include …

• A contracted number of 60-minute, one-on-one personal coaching sessions

• A lot of questions! A coach listens, then reflects back to you through powerful, challenging questions that draw out your energy and creativity

• Unlimited offline telephone support (10 minute duration) between sessions

• Unlimited offline email support

• An optional interview-based 360 degree feedback process

• Scheduled, deliberate and growth-oriented conversations (face-to-face or over the telephone)

• Accountability, with specific, measurable objectives and goals

Q: Is coaching just a “fad”?
A: Unfortunately, many people are using the term “coaching” in a marketing sense, even though they are not providing professional coaching services. We use the term to specifically convey professional coaching services provided by a certified, trained coach.

Q: How does Coaching differ from Consulting?
A: A consultant offers specific expertise on a given issue to their clients. In other words, the consultant is the expert. A coach seeks to challenge and develop the by creating an environment in which the client is the expert. Our role as coaches is to put you in a position where you can best leverage your own personal insight and resources – insight often gained through the consulting process. At times, a coach may provide expertise like a consultant, but we do so on a limited basis and only upon request.

Q: How does coaching compare to counseling?
A: Counseling deals primarily in the processes of healing and restoration, dealing with issues in the past that impact today. In contrast, coaching deals primarily in developmental processes, utilizing objectives and strategies to build personal capacity in order to achieve a future goal.

Q: Is one-on-one coaching confidential?
A: Absolutely. We treat each client engagement as a private matter, and handle each coaching session with professional confidentiality. For more details, feel free to download our Coaching Code of Ethics.

Q: Is coaching just a friendly way to way of helping people leaders who are struggling or about to fail?
A: Coaching is beneficial to anyone who wants to improve and develop, but it is not targeted to help leaders who are under-performing. In fact, coaching is most effective at helping top performers excel even more. The determining factor in coaching effectiveness is the client’s eagerness to develop. If a leader is willing to develop, then there’s a high predictability that coaching will be effective.
